Toddler’s Mutilated Body Found in Pentecostal Church Latrine

Locals in Buyuchi village in Nama subcounty, Mukono district, are still in shock following the disappearance and subsequent discovery of a dead toddler in a pit latrine.

The deceased is a 15-month-old baby identified as Sserunkuma Sharum who was brutally murdered in an act of suspected ritual sacrifice. Sserunkuma vanished without a trace from his mother, Namatovu Jackline, while she was busy washing clothes on the morning of March 26, 2024.

The mother reported the matter to police and a joint search was initiated by police and locals that led to an ugly and sad discovery.

Fred Enanga, the Uganda police spokesman reveals that the on March 27, 2024, a three-year-old pupil attending Katogo Aim Junior Nursery School, while using the latrine, stumbled upon what appeared to be blood within a latrine at the Pentecostal Church Katogo.

The child rushed and informed her teacher, who in turn alerted local authorities and the police.

Enanga reveals that officers retrieved the lifeless body that was found to be brutally mutilated. His head had been severed, his stomach ripped open, and internal organs removed, suggesting the grim possibility of a ritualistic murder.

The scene of crime officers also recovered a coffee stem from the latrine as potential evidence.

He says no suspect has been arrested in the incident but efforts are now underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, as well as to recover any missing body parts.
