COU Urges Unity and Parental Awareness in Church-Founded Schools

Rev. Canon Dr. Grace Paul Kakooza, the Provincial Education Secretary of the Church of Uganda, has called upon head teachers and educators in Church-founded schools to prioritize unity and enhance parental awareness of their duties.

Dr. Kakooza conveyed this message during a farewell event for the former Diocesan Education Secretary, Rev. Canon Geoffrey Kagoye, who has transitioned to become the Parish priest of St. Dunstan in Nasuuti Archdeaconry.

The ceremony, organized by secondary head teachers, took place at Namakwa Senior Secondary School, Mpumu Archdeaconry, within Mukono Diocese.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kakooza emphasized the importance of effective coordination between primary and secondary sections within these institutions to achieve excellence in education and to uphold the objectives of COHEIA.

Expressing concerns about the challenges posed by the new curriculum, the current Diocesan Education Secretary, Rev. Edward Seezi Musoke, urged head teachers to conduct thorough research and seek guidance to ensure that no child is left behind due to teachers’ lack of understanding.

Fredrick Kawumi Mbazira, the President of Secondary Schools in Mukono Diocese, and Mrs. Suzan Wamala, representing primary schools, commended Canon Kagoye for his exemplary leadership in fostering unity among educators and for his contributions to improving the quality of education in the diocese.

In his farewell address, Rev. Canon Geoffrey Kagoye expressed gratitude to the teachers for their cooperation in promoting unity between primary and secondary sectors and enhancing educational standards. He also extended appreciation to those teachers who recently entered into holy matrimony.
