Janet Adongo Rose Alau to Carry NRM Flag In Dokolo Byelection
The ruling NRM district conference of Dokolo district has backed party flag bearer, Janet Adongo Rose Alau in the already heated up district Woman Member of Parliament race to replace the late Cecilia Ogwal.
Adongo held the NRM flag during the 2021 general elections
During a delegates’ conference, the NRM deputy secretary general, Rose Namayanja who was the chief guest commended party members of Dokolo for their willingness to unite and build consensus behind the flag bearer.
“Many of you have understood that NRM is bigger than individuals and it is why some of those who had interests to contest as independents stepped aside to consolidate the support for Rose Adongo,” Namayanja said.
She also advised party members who are still determined to contest to consider backing the NRM candidate into parliament for the remaining year years before the general elections of 2026.
“The NRM government is already in place with an agenda of securing the future. If elected, Janet Adongo will work closely with constituency MPs from Dokolo and the government to deliver services to the ordinary people,” Namayanja said.
Namayanja also reminded voters to support an aspirant from the ruling party who will fast-track services and implementation of government programs like the PDM.
“Every parish in the country is receiving 100 million for PDM. With the NRM Chairman in leadership, the program will be well supervised while working with other party leaders,” Namayanja said. The director of Mobilisation, Rosemary Seninde thanked all those who had expressed ambitions of assuming the Dokolo seat but later turned it down for the sake of political harmony in the NRM family.
“Thank you for loving Uganda and accepting to front one person. Withdrawing doesn’t mean you are weak. It implies harmony and team spirit,” Seninde said as she saluted the 3 aspirants who stood aside in favour of Janet Adongo.
Seninde also assured delegate members that NRM is not going anywhere because they know what the people want.
“Ugandans want service delivery and that is why we brought many poverty alleviation programs like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga to uplift the livelihoods of people in the subsistence economy.”
She urged Adongo if elected to take care and prioritize the welfare of the people of Dokolo.
“Don’t be like a duck that doesn’t care about its young ones. Ensure that your people are served with diligence and commitment.”
The NRM flag bearer, Janet Adongo Rose Alau stated that if voted, she will not disappoint the locals and the party.
“I won’t disappoint you. I commit to work for everyone to develop Dokolo,” she said.
Nomination of candidates by the Independent Electoral Commission is slated for March 10 and 11, 2024. Campaigns commence on March 13 until 19, 2024.
