He was welcomed by Vice-President Hon Jessica Alupo, 1st Vice Chairperson Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, 2nd Vice Chairperson Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga , Secretary-General Rt. Hon Richard Todwong, and other senior party officials.
NRM National Chairman, President Kaguta Museveni, verified details in Party’s Register, initiating official update of membership records. He is currently addressing the NRM leaders and supporters gathered at the headquarters.
This exercise kickstarts the electoral activities leading up to the 2026 general elections, with registration set to take place from March 13th to March 17th, 2024.
This development follows a training session declared open by the NRM 1st National Vice Chairman, Al Hajj Moses Kigongo, at the party Electoral Commission offices. Various officials, including NRM district chairpersons, registrars, district administrators, and regional coordinators, underwent training to ensure the smooth implementation of the membership register update exercise.
During the training, Kigongo emphasized the importance of collaboration among trainees for the success of the upcoming registration exercise. He urged them to maintain discipline, avoid abusive language, and focus on persuading hesitant members to participate.
Kigongo also cautioned officials against meddling in matters beyond their mandated roles, emphasizing the significance of the mission at hand in serving the people of Uganda.
The updated party register is expected to play a vital role in ensuring transparent and fair internal elections during the 2026 general elections, helping to prevent the chaos and disputes that have occurred during previous primaries.
Notable figures present at the occasion included Chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission, Director of Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, Dr. Tanga Odoi, Deputy Secretary-General Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, among others
President Museveni will chair a meeting of the National Resistance Movement Central Executive Committee this Friday. This comes shortly after 11 CEC members, in consultation with the first National Vice Chairman Alhaji Moses Kigongo, agreed to suspend the tentative NRM road map.
