Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the death of a student at Kampala International University’s western campus. The student, Boniface Opirin, was found dead in his dormitory room. He was a first-semester student at the School of Engineering.
A fellow student discovered Opirin’s body hanging in the bathroom around 12:30 PM on Sunday. The incident was reported to the authorities immediately.
Residents have described Opirin as a well-behaved student and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
Initial investigations by the police found that Opirin had two packets of rat poison with him. He was found with a rope around his neck, but there were no other visible injuries.
The body has been taken to the Kampala International University Teaching Hospital in Ishaka for a postmortem examination while the investigation continues.
