LC I Chairperson Arrested Over Man’s Death in Ritual
Police in Soroti have apprehended an LC I Chairperson over his alleged involvement in a ritual act that claimed the life of a local
The deceased is Epyamu Jimmy, a 23-year-old bodaboda rider from Agama Cell, Western Division in Soroti.
Preliminary findings from police reveal that on February 5th, 2024, around 5 pm the suspect Ocan Tom, contacted the services of a traditional healer on the run to give a concoction believed to be poisonous to members of the public.
Ocan whose motorcycle was stolen, decided to perform a ritual by forcing three male victims, including Jimmy to take the mixture that left him unconscious.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson says Jimmy’s condition deteriorated, resulting in his death.
Enanga says investigations have led to the recovery of two motorcycles, with both Ocan’s family members and the traditional healer running away.
In a separate development, police in Masindi are searching for a businessman Nyingambe Robert, accused of torturing and killing Obel Sam, a 24-year-old casual worker from Bisenyi Village, Miirya Sub County.
The incident, which occurred on February 5th, 2024, followed Robert’s earlier report of maize theft by unknown individuals.
On the day of the incident, Robert apprehended Jonathan Okot, subjecting him to torture before he was rescued and taken to the police by the defense secretary.
Subsequently, Robert lured Sam to his home, where both he and accomplices subjected Sam to further torture, resulting in his death upon arrival at ZamZam Medical Center.
While two suspects are in custody, including Ofoynimungu Geofrey, the hunt for Nyingambe Robert remains ongoing.
