In Jinja, the police are looking into a tragic incident where a 51-year-old man named Fred Mitega reportedly killed his wife and later committed suicide.
The incident happened in Buwagi cell, Northern division, Jinja, following a disagreement between Mitega and his wife, Zaina Nakisige, on a Saturday.
According to reports, Mitega struck his wife in the head during the argument, causing her to bleed profusely, until she lost her life.
The couple’s child informed local leaders about the incident, who promptly alerted the police. A search for Mitega’s whereabouts ensued but his lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree in Buwagi cell.
Wilson Nkeire, the LCI Chairperson, revealed that the couple had been engaged in ongoing domestic disputes, particularly regarding issues of infidelity.
The local authorities and police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
