After an illustrious 20-year career in professional football, the iconic Ivorian has finally called it quits.

Didier netted 10 goals in 14 games during his season in USA’s second tier before scoring five goals in nine regular season games this term.

Throughout his exceptional career, he won a famous champions league title with Chelsea FC, four premier league titles, four FA cups, three league Cup Trophies, Two community shields, two premier league golden boots, Turkish super League, the Turkish cup, Turkish football’s player of the year award, and two African player of the year awards.

Even in his final game, though the legendary Ivorian was unable to secure the win, the 40-year old showed glimpses of his genius in the defeat against Louisville City in the USL Cup final on Thursday night.

His character and magnetic personality shone through at the end of the match, he was seen applauding the fans, before shouting to his teammates: “come, guys, come!”

He further got up and close with the fans, and this also drew in the rest of his teammates, giving the fans a rare opportunity to meet the players up close. A real class act.
