President Yoweri Museveni has lauded the efforts of Rev. Joseph Anthony Zziwa, the Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese, for actively partnering with the government to fight poverty.
The acknowledgment came during a meeting at State House, Entebbe, where the President expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s commitment to addressing poverty through collaborative socio-economic development programs.
The President, meeting with religious leaders from Mityana led by Bishop Zziwa, emphasized the positive impact of their joint initiatives. He highlighted that these programs have enabled followers to participate in animal and plant farming, effectively combating poverty. President Museveni pledged continued support for the Diocese in its ongoing fight against poverty in Uganda.
“I thank the Bishop for working with the government to fight poverty through socio-economic development programs and for guiding the people of the Diocese in embracing projects that can help them get out of poverty, like the growing of coffee and rearing cows for milk, among others,” stated President Museveni.
Bishop Zziwa, reciprocating the sentiment, said their collaborative efforts guided the Diocese’s constituents toward economically empowering projects, such as coffee cultivation and dairy farming.
President Museveni commended the Bishop’s dedication to uplifting communities, affirming the government’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Diocese in its tireless fight against poverty among Ugandans.
