Notorious Gang Member Paddy Sserunjonji Aka Sobi Killed During Land Dispute
Paddy Sserunjonji, also known as Sobi, a former leader of the Kifeesi criminal gang in Kampala, has been killed in a botched land eviction in Maddu, Gomba.
According to the acting Katonga region police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Karim Majid, Sobi was killed by a mob during a violent confrontation on land belonging to one Kalisa in Maddu, Gomba district.
The incident involved two groups, one armed with sticks, pangas, and spears, who attacked another group claiming ownership of the land. Sobi was among the casualties of the clash.
The land in question was bought by Kalisa for shs100 million in 2007, and a dispute arose over the ownership. It was later revealed that Sobi was used in land-grabbing cases by influential individuals.
Sobi had a notorious history, having confessed to leading the Kifeesi gang that terrorized Kampala. He was linked to various criminal activities, including robbery and murder, and was known to have been involved in several cases of land grabbing.
In his last notable public appearance, Sserunjogi mentioned that he had political ambitions during an interview on NBS TV.
