Demand Accountability from Technocrats, Dombo Tells NRM Youth
The NRM youth ideological retreat in Kalungu district concluded today with a call for unity among participants, emphasizing community development and household wealth creation. Organized by the NRM National Secretariat, the 3-day retreat at St. Charles Lwanga SS Kasasa received commendation from Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, NRM Spokesperson and director of Communication, for the participants’ discipline and eagerness to learn about government projects and income generation through agriculture.
Dombo stressed the youth’s responsibility to seek information, demand accountability from technocrats, and highlighted the importance of financial discipline, resource management, and mindset change for self-improvement. He dispelled the notion that wealth is inherited, emphasizing its correlation with consistency and hard work.
Participants also received instruction on Uganda’s history, acknowledging the sacrifices made for democracy and fundamental freedoms. Dombo urged the youth to preserve peace and encouraged those equipped with knowledge to impact their villages positively.
Hon. Rosemary Seninde, director of mobilization at NRM and event organizer, noted the unity among youth from different political parties, including NRM, DP, and NUP. She expressed satisfaction with achieving objectives, emphasizing the value of knowledge for personal and community socio-economic development. Seninde encouraged youth to diversify their livelihoods, stressing the role of the youth in the country’s progress through taxation and development initiatives.
Youth leaders, including Mary Nampebwa and Matsiko Arnold, shared their gratitude for the camp’s organization, highlighting lessons learned in entrepreneurship, love for their country, and responsible behavior. Nampebwa emphasized the ability to start businesses independently, while Matsiko encouraged fellow youth to engage in government programs like the parish development model and Youth livelihood programs for poverty alleviation and improved household incomes.
