Three suspects, Jonathan Semanda, Joram Mwebesa (also known as Epu or Joram Nasasira), and Ashraf Nsiko, have been sent to Luzira Prison by Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate’s Court.
They are accused of aggravated robbery against a Chinese businessman. The incident occurred on November 15, 2023, near Fang Fang Hotel in Kampala, where the suspects allegedly used a machete to rob the businessman, Hewei, of a bag containing US$190,000 (about Shillings 721 million) and caused him serious harm.
During the court proceedings, Magistrate Sienna Owomugisha informed the accused not to enter a plea as the court lacked the authority to handle aggravated robbery cases, a capital offense. Prosecution requested remand until December 18, 2023, to complete investigations.
