NRM Secretariat Revives Ideological Clinics for Cadre Training
The National Resistance Movement secretariat revived ‘The NRM Ideological Clinics’, a cadre training program aimed at providing information to staff and party cadres within the ruling party. The initial launch occurred in September 2021.
Party Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, presided over the relaunch at the NRM Headquarters on Plot 10, Kyadondo Road in Kampala in the afternoon.
Todwong stated that the lectures intend to foster interaction between NRM’s young supporters and Party Historicals, individuals who have witnessed the historical context, transformation, and evolution of NRM from the 1960s to the present.
He emphasized that the lecturers aim to assist party supporters and cadres in tracing NRM’s 45-year journey and its evolution. Mr. Todwong addressed the participants, noting, “Now that the by-elections are over, we thought we should reintroduce this program to train our cadres.”
The lectures, scheduled monthly, will be conducted both physically and virtually via Zoom and YouTube for the convenience of members who may be geographically distant.
During a lecture moderated by former Bush War Liberator Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, Mr. Hippo Twebaze, the Presidential Advisor at the NRA Archives, discussed “The 90-Day Plan to Attack Kabamba.” Twebaze highlighted the collaboration between freedom fighters and locals, emphasizing their effective information exchange.
Secretary General Todwong announced that the ideological lectures will run concurrently with Kiswahili lessons and public speaking training. He stated, “We are helping to learn how to speak to people with confidence and with much knowledge.”
Todwong also revealed, “We are also teaching Kiswahili. There are some Ugandans who have lost EAC community jobs when they go for interviews due to difficulty in Kiswahili proficiency.”
Additionally, the secretariat is gearing up to launch a digital library to facilitate online research by NRM cadres. “Instead of carrying books, we shall be uploading the resources online to allow our members to research wherever they are on politics, the economy, and other issues,” Mr. Todwong said.
