Makerere University Shifts 74th Graduation Dates
Makerere University has changed the dates for its 74th graduation ceremony. Now, it will happen from January 22 to 26. This adjustment gives students more time to pay any remaining fees.
Professor Buyinza Mukadasi, the Academic Registrar, explained in a statement that the goal is to help students meet both academic and financial requirements.
The original plan was to have the graduation in the second week of January 2024, but now it starts on January 22. The first day will include ceremonies for the College of Natural Sciences, College of Health Sciences, and School of Law.
Professor Buyinza urged graduating students to use this extra time to clear any financial obligations and meet academic requirements. This change was prompted by technical issues that caused delays in fee payments, affecting students who were supposed to graduate.
The university expects to award degrees to more than 13,000 students during the week-long ceremony in January. This extension aims to make the transition to the next phase of their lives smoother for graduating students.
