Panga Wielding Thugs In Viral Video Identified

Police in Kampala are holding two suspected panga wielding thugs captured in a viral video in a police operation.

The suspects include ; Sukura Onganyi 19, a resident of Kamwokya and Derrick Kamira 23, and a resident of Kiyembe Zone, in Makindye the duo were captured in a viral video by locals, carrying machetes on their waists.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Deputy Metropolitan Spokesperson says they were netted by police patrol team commanded by Sgt Joshua Isabirye at  Sempagala Zone, Ntinda, in Nakawa Division.They attempted to flee on a motorcycle, which led to a collision with the police vehicle. Subsequently, the machetes hidden in their trousers were discovered.

He states that two suspects are currently receiving medical attention at China Hospital in Naguru under police custody. A case has been initiated for investigation regarding the possession of deadly weapons against them.

Owoyesigyire says the police are also searching for a third person involved in the incident.However, the recovered machetes will be used as evidence in court, as the trio will be facing trial.
