Museveni Inaugurates Four Points By Sheraton Kampala, Marks Milestone in Private Sector Growth

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially today opened the doors of the Four Points By Sheraton Kampala, a prestigious international brand hotel managed by Marriott International Inc. during a ceremony held in Kololo, Kampala. This marks a significant achievement in Uganda’s private sector development.

In his address, President Museveni emphasized the importance of supporting the private sector, attributing it to the rapid recovery of Uganda’s economy since the time of former President Idi Amin. He explained that supporting the private sector is integral to nationalism and economic strength.

The President also highlighted the government’s effort to return confiscated properties to Asians who had been expelled by Idi Amin, ensuring a conducive business environment and welcoming investors.

Furthermore, President Museveni pointed out the substantial market opportunities in Uganda, ranging from the domestic market of 46 million people to the broader East African market of 300 million people and the entire African market of 1.5 billion people.
He encouraged investors to engage in areas such as manufacturing and agro-processing, emphasizing the potential for profit in value-added agricultural products.

President Museveni urged investors to report public servants engaging in corrupt practices and assured that appropriate action would be taken.

The event was graced by Mr. Kaushik Manek, a board member of Four Points By Sheraton, who introduced their 40 million USD brand to Uganda, and Mr. Gaurav K Magoo, the General Manager, who emphasized the facility’s commitment to providing world-class services in the hospitality industry without compromising safety and standards.
