Man Kidnaps Boss’ Son, Demands UGX 8 million Ransom
Police in Kisoro district, are hunting for a 20-year-old casual laborer behind the kidnapping of a 10-year-old pupil from Nshungwe Primary School.
The kidnapper, a Congolese national named Hakiza, had worked at his victim’s home called John Mary Irankunda, for about a month before the abduction on October 22, 2023.
Irankunda’s father, Moses Ninzeyimana, a teacher, filed a missing person report at Busanza Police Post after their efforts to locate the boy and Hakiza proved futile.
Hakiza reportedly used the mobile phone stolen from Irankunda’s home to demand an 8 million Ugandan Shillings ransom from the boy’s relatives to secure his release. The police are currently working on obtaining call data from the suspect’s phone.
This incident is not an isolated one, as the police have previously registered cases of kidnappings for ransom in the region.
