Masaka SS Students’ Properties Turned to Ashes in Tragic School Dormitory Fire

A destructive fire ravaged a section of the girls’ dormitory wing at Masaka Secondary School, where nearly a hundred senior four and six students were housed.

The inferno mercilessly consumed the students’ possessions, including bedding, clothing, books, and educational materials, reducing them to ashes.

This devastating fire spared nothing within the dormitory, devouring mattresses, shoes, suitcases, clothes, and valuable books.

The affected dormitory was a two-story building that housed 47 senior five and six students. Fortunately, reports indicate that the ground floor of the dormitory remained unscathed.

Alfred Bamugambagye, the Greater Masaka Regional Police Commander, confirmed the incident and reported that their emergency response teams were still actively engaged in the situation. Their prompt action managed to save many belongings and potentially lives.

The School Headteacher, Hajj Musa Musoke Mpungu, shared that a crisis meeting involving school security and the Board of Governors has resulted in a decision to keep the school operational. This decision aims to allow students to continue their preparations for upcoming final examinations.
