ESOSS Receives Sewing Machines from Wazalendo SACCO to Bolster Family Incomes
Members of the Entebbe Soldiers’ Spouses SACCO (ESOSS) have been encouraged to use SACCO projects to earn money and help their families.
This advice came from Colonel Ketty Akello, Deputy Director of Personnel and Administration of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces – Air Force. She was speaking after receiving a gift of five (5) sewing machines from Wazalendo SACCO at the Air Force Headquarters in Entebbe.
Colonel Akello thanked Wazalendo SACCO for the sewing machines. She said these machines will help their sewing project. She asked the members to learn from other sewing projects and try to turn this equipment into a business.
Colonel Akello told ESOSS members to copy how Wazalendo SACCO started small and became successful.
Wazalendo SACCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Col Joseph Freddy Onata, brought and gave the sewing machines. He said these machines should help ESOSS make more clothes and also earn money for the families.
“I saw that they were honest and good at keeping records. So, I gave them 5 sewing machines as a gift from WSACCO. These are the machines we gave them today,” said Col Onata.
The CEO said both Wazalendo SACCO and ESOSS want the same thing: to help members and their families. He told the ladies to use the machines well and make the SACCO even better.
ESOSS Chairperson, Mrs. Doreen Birungi, thanked Wazalendo’s CEO for the gift. She promised to use the machines properly.
“We are thankful to Wazalendo for making our dream come true. We dreamed of having more machines and a sewing center in the future. Wazalendo has helped us a lot,” said Mrs. Birungi.
The event was attended by Air Force Officers, ESOSS leaders, and members.
