UPDF Confirms Arrest Of Men Recorded Violently Arresting Suspect In Kampala

The UPDF army leadership has arrested and tried, before the Unit Disciplinary Committee men who were captured on video conducting an arrest of a suspect in an unprofessional manner.

The man identified as Yusuf Kawooya was arrested on colville street.

In a statement issued Saturday, Brig Richard Karemire, the army spokesman emphasized that the UPDF will not tolerate high handedness and abuse of rule of law during operations.

“Following the unprofessional conduct of security operatives in executing an arrest of a suspect, that happened on Thursday 18th Oct 2018 along Colville street in Kampala, arrest and prosecution of the offenders was effected vide case number UDC/041/18 Uganda vs Cpl Ssenkungu Daniel and others
The culprits have been made to attorn for their mischief,” the statement reads.

“This is to regret this unfortunate incident and to assure the public that such conduct is unacceptable and anyone who breaks the law will be held to account and will be punished accordingly,” the statement reads further.
