The Buganda Magistrate’s court has remanded Ivan Wabwire, the police officer who shot dead an Indian business man at Raja Chambers at Parliamentary Avenue.
Wabwire was charged with murder and remanded to Luzira government prison until June 07,2023 on Wednesday morning.
Buganda Road Chief Magsitrate, Sarah Tusiime read the murder charges read to him and didn’t allow him to take plea because the charges against him are criminal and court has no jurisdiction .
Prosecution led by Joan Keko and Ivan Kyazze told court that on May, 12, 2023 at Raja chambers along parliamentary avenue in the Kampala district, with malice aforethought, Wabwire unlawfully killed Uttam Bhandari Saremal an Indian national.
The state told court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing and that the suspect is pending another mental status check up.
Bhandari, the director of TFS Financial Services was killed after he disagreed with Wabwire over sh2,130,000 loan that he owed.
