A woman has been arrested for stabbing her husband to death using a knife.
The suspect is Monica Amaniyo, a resident of Ombezevua cell in Kenya ward, Arua central division. She kiled her husband identified as Robert Munguci on Monday at about 1:30am.
It is alleged by locals that the couple started an arguement over a bag and household property that resulted in Munguci’s demise.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile region police spokesperson,says during the exchange of words, Amaniyo reportedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Munguci several times in the stomach, causing him to bleed severely.
She says the local council one general secretary of the Ombezevua cell was informed of the incident by Amaniyo’s neighbours and she reported to police who rushed to the scene, recovered the knife allegedly used to stab the deceased and arrested the suspect.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to his relatives for burial, while Amaniyo is being held at Arua Central Police Station in Basaar ward.
Summary Ijaga, the LC 2 chairperson of Kenya ward in Arua central division has described the incident as unfortunate, urging couples to seek dialogue to resolve misunderstandings.
“We appeal to couples to use peaceful means to resolve their disagreements rather than resorting to violence,” he said. This is the second such incident in less than a month, following the alleged killing of Rogers Mundua by his wife, Mary Asianzu Racheal, in a domestic brawl on Easter Sunday.
