Retired Judge Musene Passes on At 67
The Principal Communications Officer of the Judiciary Sheila Wamboga, confirmed that Justice Masalu Musene died on Sunday evening where he was admitted with an unknown illness at Mbale Hospital.
The deceased retired in 2021, three months prior to his retirement date, this followed a three months forced leave he was subjected to by the Principal Judge Dr Flavian Zeija.
The three months are provided for by the constitution to allow a judge time to clear pending chamber work.
The judge was previously sanctioned by the United States Department of Treasury, for their alleged involvement in activities that victimized young children in a corrupt adoption scheme. However, he dismissed the allegations.
He is the second judge to die this year after the death of Constitutional Court Justice Kenneth Kakuru who was still a serving Judge.
