Police in Namayingo have recovered a lifeless body of a six year old boy who disappeared on March 7th, 2023.

The deceased is Rahmah Nalubega, was found dead in a sugarcane plantation in Bulamba ward, Namayingo town council on Tuesday.  Her decomposing body was found by casual labourers in the morning. The locals later informed the police.

Locals claim the child was a victim of ritual sacrifice and urged the police to investigate thoroughly and apprehend those responsible for her child’s death.

Hussein Ssebidde, the LC III chairperson of Namayingo town council, highlighted the growing superstitious tendencies among some unemployed youths in the area who believe in ritual sacrifice as an easy means of acquiring wealth.

Ssebidde noted that community members had previously alerted security about such tendencies, and they have successfully rescued unsuspecting victims of child sacrifices. He however notes that the suspects have always managed to evade arrest, frustrating efforts to prosecute them creating an enabling environment for this vice to thrive.

Busoga East police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula, says that police have taken the deceased’s body to Buyinjja Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem while investigations continue.
