I’ve been obsessed with figuring out Uganda/Africa’s problem. The last 5 years, I’ve called Uganda a low IQ society which is a FACT. The author hints on the real problem but his post is about IQ so the real issue is given little attention. It’s not IQ. It’s CULTURE.
It’s CULTURAL QOUTIENT vs INTELLIGENCE QUOTIENT.
Culture is the shared mindset, beliefs, thinking, values of the people in society.
I no longer subscribe to the IQ explanation as the main problem. Culture has to be sorted before IQ is brought up. Work ethic, political will, discipline, altruism, utilitarianism, focus, persistence,etc fall under culture. Africa scores poorly on those. Having high IQ won’t miraculously turn our leaders (public and private) to have the will to make this society better. Most of our corrupt public servants are extremely intelligent at the level of Mossad and Wall Street.
Our warped culture has given them an environment to have no shame in swindling money for the sick.
Which is why changing the education system won’t save Uganda. If you brought the Germany/Japan education system to Uganda, you would get highly skilled engineers/craftsmen/human capital, that are, ALSO, thieves!
Culture is why African kings had no shame in selling their abled youths into slavery. The culture of having no respect for your own people’s lives and their dignity. The same culture is why it’s easy for Chinese/white economic hitmen manipulate our leaders to take bribes for selling cheaply our minerals.
White people have the culture of respecting the lives of their own which is why every evil they’ve committed throughout history is for their countries while a Black man commits evil for himself as an individual.
The most successful societies have both culture and IQ working for them while those at the bottom lack both.
The upper average societies have culture sorted but with average IQ.
The lower average societies, such as Uganda, score average on both culture and IQ.
If Africa is to solve its issues, it should study the culture of East Asians, Jews, Germans etc. IQ can’t really change because it’s ~ 80% hereditary.
Even at the individual level, a high IQ doesn’t take you far. It’s discipline and hardwork. The latter is culture.
