Police in Luwero has linked family members of the former Minister, Abdul Naddulialleged possession of the firearm that was stolen from Busiika Police Station.

The suspects who were feared kidnapped this morning at 2 am from Kalege village in Semuto sub-county Nakaseke district.

The suspects include; Sulaiman Nadduli the imam of Masjid Fatuma Shamisi Kalege, Yusuf Jakana, Issa Gabindadde, Lubulwa Muhamadi, Kassim Kyanjo, Isma Ssenkubuge, Jamadah Mugga, Rehema Nakungu, and Mwamin Nalubulwa.

Patrick Lule, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, has however not confirmed the arrests.

Alhajji Abdul Nadduli says they were informed by Brigadier General Abdul Rugumayo, the Deputy Chief of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence that the suspects were picked on allegations by a relative that they were in possession of a gun.

He, however, says that Rugumayo admitted that during their search, they found no gun.

The Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Brigadier Gen Felix Kulayigye, said that he wasn’t aware of the operation but was quick to add that the suspects will be released once investigations prove their innocence.

The raid comes a week after unknown assailants raided Busiika Police Station, killed two police officers, and injured two others before they made off with two firearms.

Two weeks ago Nadduli lost his son Jakana Sulaiman Nadduli,37, following his arrest over allegations of promoting sectarianism.

He was laid to rest at his ancestral home at Kaddunda village in Kapeeka sub-county, Nakaseke district.

Nadduli blamed the death of his son on his arrest shortly after undergoing an operation at Nsambya hospital following a nasty accident.
