President Museveni Makes Changes To UPDF In Latest Transfers And Appointments

In a document released on Thursday by the UPDF Spokesperson Felix Kulayige, President Museveni has transferred and promoted 33 Senior UPDF officers.

The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has exercised his mandate and made changes and promotions to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces- UPDF.

In a document released on Thursday by the UPDF Spokesperson Felix Kulayige, President Museveni has transferred and promoted 33 Senior UPDF officers.

Among the appointments, the Deputy Spokesperson of the force Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu has been replaced with Col Deo Akiiki, who returns to a position he had occupied before he went on a one year course.

In July, Col Akiiki graduated from the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC), Kimaka in Jinja City after completing his course.

Meanwhile, Lt Col Kakurungu has been posted as the Deputy Director for Strategic Communications.

Col Allan Matsiko has been appointed Director in the Special Forces Command and will be deputized by Lt Col Duncan R Kafeero at SFC.

Also Maj Gen George Igumba, who has been the UPDF chief of personnel and administration is appointed Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka

Meanwhile, Brig Stephen Tumweisgye Kashure is the new Chief of Staff at the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre in Jinja whereas Brig Metland Bitumbika is now the General Manager of the Defence Forces Shop.
