Gen Muhoozi Skips Homecoming Celebration in Kiruhura over Regional Security Situation
The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and UPDF Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba apologized to thousands of well-wishers who thronged Nyakasharara playground to welcome and celebrate with him his 48th birthday.
In a telephone call that was broadcast at the event, Gen Kainerugaba thanked the people of Kiruhura and surrounding areas for turning up in huge numbers to show him love and appreciation.
Since April, different groups in the country have been spearheading celebrations to appreciate Gen Kainerugaba for chosing to serve his country through the military, something many say is a risky venture especially for someone like him who would have chosen any comfortable career path.
In his message, Gen Kainerugaba appealed to, especially, the youth to understand their role in ensuring development of Uganda through various disciplines such as talent development, tourism among others in order to preserve the peace that was achieved by the works of our fathers and grandfathers.
Despite his absentia, people indeed turned up in thousands for the event, in a massive show of appreciation for the General.
In a tweet Tuesday evening, the General said he will, in a special way, be in Kiruhura to celebrate with his people.
“I thank all the MK revolutionary forces for organising this great event in my home town of Kiruhura for the youth. I’m very sorry I couldn’t attend. I had to concentrate on regional issues. I promise to return to my home in Kiruhura in my own special way!” Gen Kainerugaba said in his tweet.
Although the people were eager to see the General, several speakers thanked the CLF for not closing an eye to our country’s and regional security issues.
At the event, Gen Kainerugaba was represented by bush-war veteran Col (rtd) Fred Mwesigye who is the current Ambassador of Uganda to the United Republic of Tanzania.
Col Mwesigye who is also the former Nyabushozi Member of Parliament said he was honored to represent Gen Kainerugaba and thanked the thousands of people at the event for for expressing their love to Gen Kainerugaba.
