President Museveni Approves Midterm Access to NSSF Savings

President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday assented to NSSF (Amendment) Bill, 2021, paving way for members who have reached 45 years and saved consistently for 10 years to access 20% of their savings.
The development was announced  Tuesday afternoon by the deputy presidential press secretary Faruk Kirunda.
“H.E [Kaguta Museveni] has assented to the National Social Security Fund (Amendment) Bill 2021. Congratulations to Parliament, savers and all stakeholders for their input in the process,” he tweeted.
The Chairman General of the National Organisation of Trade Unions (NOTU) Usher Wilson Owere welcomed the news.

 “Good news coming in is that; the President of Republic of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has signed NSSF amendments Bill 2021 into law Congratulations the Workers Uganda thank your excellency for that new year gift to the workers of Uganda,” he said, according to Daily Monitor.

The NSSF Bill was first passed by the 10th parliament in February last but it was returned to the August House by President Museveni to make changes to it and return it to him for consent.
