Col Ankunda Urges UPDF Soldiers on Discipline, Human Rights
The Director of Strategic Communication and Defence Engagement under UPDF’s CMI, Col Paddy Ankunda has urged members of the UPDF to always be disciplined while executing their duties.
Col Ankunda was speaking to soldiers of 333 mountain brigade at Kanyamwirima in Bundibugyo district Monday morning.
“Talking to soldiers of 333 MTN Brigade at Kanyamwirima, this morning, I emphasized that our strength as soldiers is our discipline, respect for human rights and a strategic relationship with the people of Uganda,” Col Ankunda tweeted Monday afternoon.
Col Ankunda who is involved in operations against the ADF in eastern DRC has been conducting sensitization campaigns about Operation Shujaa in areas around the mission area.
Since the launch of the operation, several ADF camps including their headquarters at Kambi Ya Yua have been overrun by joint UPDF and FARDC forces. Some of the terrorists have been captured while others have surrendered.
Recently, operation Shujaa commanders Maj Gen Kayanja Muhanga and his DRC counterpart held a meeting to review the mission against the ADF terrorists in Eastern Congo.
The mission is being jointly executed by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC).
