Surrender to Get Second Chance – Gen Muhoozi Urges ADF Fighters

The Commander land Forces Lt Gen Muhozi Kainerugaba has urged Allied Democratic Fighters to surrender in order to be given a chance by the UPDF and FARDC forces.

Through his Twitter handle, Gen Kainerugaba noted that most of the ADF leaders had fled, urging their fighters to surrender for safety.

“To ADF combatants. You have seen what we (the joint UPDF/FARDC forces) are capable of. Operation Shujaa will continue until your terrorism ends. Many of your ‘leaders’ have already fled the bush and abandoned you to your fate,” Gen Kainerugaba tweeted Friday morning.

Gen Kainerugaba who is also the senior presidential advisor on special operations added: “surrender now before it’s too late. The joint forces will receive you and give you a second chance.”

In an earlier message, the CLF who is believed to be the tactical commander of the operation noted that the joint forces against the ADF had achieved tremendous success.

“Since the beginning of Operation Shujaa, our valiant troops together with our Congolese brothers have achieved tremendous successes. We thank our compatriots for the support. Long live the brotherhood between the people of DRC and Ug! We shall triumph against the terrorists,” Gen Kainerugaba tweeted on December 5.

Last month, following agreements between Uganda and the DRC, the UPDF together with FARDC launched artillery and airstrikes against the ADF camps.

The UPDF Spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso noted that the camps in Ituri and North Kivu provinces had been accurately targeted.

The ADF militants are responsible for recent bomb attacks on Kampala. The commander of Operation Shujaa Maj. Gen. Kayanja Muhanga says the ground forces have advanced towards the target in spite of a setback with the bad roads in the neighboring country.
