Two people have been confirmed dead after a suspected bomb blast at the popular Digida pork joint in Komamboga, Kawempe Division in Kampala.

Mr Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident which happened Saturday  evening.

Several people are reported to have suffered injuries in the suspected terror attack.

In a statement, Enanga has responded saying, “The Police at KMP, has responded to a serious blast which occurred on 23.09.2021 at 9pm at Digida eating joint in  Kawempe Division, Kampala. One person has been fatally wounded and 7 others rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, with serious injuries.”

“The scene has been cordoned off and our joint task teams from the bomb squad called to thoroughly document the scene, to help examine whether the explosion arose out of an intentional act or not. We ask the public to remain calm, as we establish the true circumstances surrounding this incident. Any new developments will be communicated in due course,” Enanga said in a statement.

This comes days after the UK government warned of an imminent terror attack in Uganda.

Uganda last suffered a major terror attack on July 11, 2010, after a militant Islamist group, Al-Shabab, killed over 75 people in a Kampala twin-bombing as hundreds watched a football World Cup final match.
