Former Presidential Press Secretary Hope Kivengere dies

Longest-serving press secretary to President Yoweri Museveni, Ms. Hope Kivengere has breathed her last at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
Ms. Kivengere served as press secretary to Mr. Museveni between 1986-2001 before she was replaced by Ms. Mary Karooro Okurut.
Hope was a daughter to Bishop Festo Kivengere a respected Anglican evangelist who helped build the church through the Christian revival movement in South Western and in Uganda in general.
Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi announced her passing on describing her as a great civil servant.

After as the President’s press secretary, Kivengere joined the African Union and the United Nations as an advisor on the information support team.

She was also a member of the COMESA Committee of Elders from Uganda and led the COMESA Observer team to monitor the Egyptian presidential elections in March 2018.
