51 Suspects Arrested For Robbing Locals On Kampala Roads

Police in Wandegeya are holding 51 suspects including one woman for terrorizing and robbing locals in various parts of Kampala.

The operation targeted a criminal racket in parts of Gayaza road , northern bypass and Mawanda road.

The suspects were arrested following an intelligence  led operation on Wednesday February 01st , 2023 at about 6 pm in the areas of Lower and upper Nsoba, Mulago III parish , Kawempe Division in Kampala District .

The operation was commanded by District Police Commander Wandegeya SP Hiwumbire Hassan and deputized by OC operations, OC Kalerwe, and other team of officers. 

 Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan  police spokesperson, says the operation followed increased crime and cries from members of the public over increased robberies.

Among those arrested include; Kafeero Andrew, Magero Muhamed, Mukwanga Denis, Mukwanga Denis,Kyobinga Hassan,Kyobinga Hassan

Kyobinga Hassan, Menya Bashir, Sserunjoji Rashid,Kijambu Harunah,Jingo Harman,Kasujja Bright, Ruhinda Innocent, Kigozi Yahaya,Musagimana Yonas, Hassan Charles, Tabo Ronald,Ndakaza Steven,Mungujjakisa Dennis, Nikubimana Richard, Kwizera David,Irivuzimana Yoweri, Ndugwa Hamza, Muzayimana Derrick

Semivumbi jamal, Turyasingura Amos, lukenge Lawrence, Agreu Isaac

Others are; Lutaya ibraMayanja Paddy Tabu, Ivan Ssebagala, Yusu fDdumba, Ukasi Ssengonzi ,Brian Gumisiriza, Ashraf Ddumba, Augustos Ssebirumbi, KasaijaMatovu, Tonny Kirumira, Swaib Mutebi ShafiqKamoga Kasim Mutunzi ,HenryKamaro ,Belubela Kimera Eddy Musoke, FahadKakooza Ali Ssekyanzi, Hassan Kamya, Dan Mpiribwa, Geofrey Kasaga, Abdul Tusenge, Emma Kanyesige, Jacob Mubiru Abby, and Nasege Sumaya.

Onyango says the suspects are being detained at Wandegeya Police station and charged with being in Possession of narcotic drugs and smoking opium.

He says among exhibits recovered from them include unrolled and sticks of opium.
