A total of 49 Senior officers are the ranks of General, Lieutenant General, Major General and Brigadier will be documented and sensitised within two days at Mbuya.
The UPDF Chief of Personnel and Administration Maj Gen George Igumba made a presentation to Generals, highlighting benefits, challenges and opportunities for the retiring officers.
Citing several authors, Gen Igumba noted that retirement is difficult for those who are not prepared.
He however emphasized that the UPDF has a clear plan that ensures that retiring officers are well prepared, adding that those who do not retire willingly are those that had problems in their career development.
Lt Gen Prossy Nalweyiso was the most senior officer present at the launch of the exercise.
However, Gen Elly Tumwine and Gen David Sejusa are also set for retirement although they did not attend the launch of the retirement exercise.
Other Generals present at the Monday event included Maj Gen Phinehas Katirima Manoni, Maj Gen Dick Olum among others.
Meanwhile, Maj Gen Igumba took the retiring Generals through a number of issues regarding retirement, explaining to them what they are entitled to and what they must handover.
