The government is set to release a series of major national survey reports in the coming weeks aimed at providing deeper insights into Uganda’s social economic and development indicators to guide policy planning and decision making.

Speaking during a briefing at the Uganda Media Centre, Uganda Bureau of Statistics spokesperson Didacus Okoth revealed that the reports will be released sequentially between March and May 2026 and will provide critical data across sectors including health education labour poverty and aquaculture.

Okoth said the first major report will be the Uganda Malaria Indicator Survey, which will be officially released in the coming days and is expected to provide updated information on the country’s malaria burden and the effectiveness of ongoing control interventions.

He noted that the release will be attended by the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, who is expected to discuss the survey findings and outline how the government intends to strengthen malaria prevention and control efforts across the country.

Okoth further announced that on March 19th 2026, UBOS will release the Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children Census Report, which will shed light on the living conditions and challenges faced by some of the country’s most vulnerable populations.

According to Okoth the census will provide detailed information about orphans street children and children living in refugee settlements including their access to education health services and civil registration services such as birth registration.

“The report will highlight the various challenges faced by orphans and other vulnerable children including access to education health care and birth registration which remain critical for ensuring that no child is left behind in national development,” Okoth explained.

He added that the Multi Dimensional Poverty Index Census Monograph, scheduled for release on March 26th 2026, will provide a deeper understanding of poverty in Uganda beyond income levels by examining multiple forms of deprivation.

Okoth explained that the report will analyze factors such as lack of sanitation access to education and other basic services which together shape the overall wellbeing of households across the country.

“The Multi Dimensional Poverty Index will allow policymakers and development partners to understand poverty from a broader perspective including issues of sanitation education and access to other essential services,” he said.

The statistics body will also release the Baseline Education Census on April 9th 2026, which is expected to present a comprehensive picture of Uganda’s education sector.

Okoth said the report will provide data on school infrastructure staffing levels and enrollment trends across primary secondary and tertiary institutions, offering policymakers an updated overview of the state of the education system.

“This baseline education census will provide a comprehensive overview of the education sector including the status of infrastructure staffing and enrollment across primary secondary and tertiary institutions,” Okoth said.

Another key report to be released is the National Human Resource Survey Report, scheduled for April 23rd 2026, which will provide detailed information on the country’s labour force and the skills profile of graduates emerging from higher education institutions.

Okoth noted that the survey will help policymakers understand Uganda’s labour supply and the level of skills available within the workforce which is critical for national development planning.

“This report will provide detailed data on Uganda’s labour supply including the skills profile of graduates from higher education institutions which is important for planning employment strategies and aligning education with labour market demands,” he said.

In addition UBOS will publish the Uganda Aquaculture Census Report on April 30th 2026, the first comprehensive national dataset focusing specifically on fish farming activities across the country.

Okoth explained that the report will provide detailed information on aquaculture practices including cage farming on Lake Victoria and pond farming in other parts of the country, which are increasingly contributing to Uganda’s food security and livelihoods.

“The aquaculture census will provide the first comprehensive data on fish farming practices in Uganda including cage farming on Lake Victoria and pond farming in other areas,” he said.

The final report in the series will be the Harmonized Indicator Survey Report, which is scheduled for release on May 7th 2026.

Okoth said the survey will provide updated national indicators on household living conditions poverty levels and employment trends which are essential for monitoring Uganda’s socio economic progress.

“The harmonized indicator survey will provide updated indicators on household living conditions poverty levels and employment trends across the country,” Okoth said.

He emphasized that all the reports will be made publicly accessible through the Uganda Bureau of Statistics website to promote transparency and support evidence based decision making.

Okoth stressed that the information generated from the surveys will help government institutions researchers development partners and the public engage in informed debate and contribute to effective policy formulation.

“All these reports will be accessible through the UBOS website and will support evidence based planning informed public debate and effective policy formulation,” he said.
