Two people have been apprehended on suspicion of brutally murdering a 5-year-old girl in Kagadi District.
The arrested suspects, identified as Brian Byamukama, aged 19, and Pascal Ajuna, both residing in Kamurandu village, Nyabutanzi sub-county, are currently in custody at Kagadi Police Station.
Allegedly, the suspects unlawfully entered the residence of Emmanuel Byamukama in Kihuura village on Tuesday around 8 p.m. and viciously attacked his daughter, Brenda Tusingwire.
The attack resulted in fatal injuries to Brenda, as she was hacked on the head, neck, and face, leading to her immediate demise.
Emmanuel Byamukama and his wife Margret Ayebale were not present at home during the incident.
Margret Ayebale recounted that she had left her daughter playing with friends while she briefly went to a nearby trading center to purchase tomatoes. However, upon her return just 20 minutes later, she discovered her daughter’s lifeless body drenched in blood on their bed.
According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region Police Spokesperson, the police utilized sniffer dogs to trace and subsequently apprehend the two suspects.
