The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that the results of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) will be officially released on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at State House Nakasero.

The release will be presided over by the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet K. Museveni.

This follows a briefing to the Ministry of Education and Sports on Tuesday. During the briefing at State House Nakasero, UNEB revealed that 798,771 candidates registered for the exams in 2024, reflecting a 6.6% increase from 2023.

The board also noted an improvement in overall performance compared to the previous year.

In a statement released by the UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule, the official release date of the PLE results, for students, parents, and educational stakeholders across the country will be live-streamed on UNEB’s and the Ministry of Education’s social media platforms at 11:00 a.m.

The examination results have been eagerly awaited, and parents and candidates  have been advised to  access their results via SMS by typing PLE, leaving a space, entering the Index Number, and sending it to 6600. For example, PLE 001234/456. Schools will access results through the UNEB online portal, while printed copies will be distributed to district and municipal inspectors of schools.

UNEB emphasized its commitment to ensuring the secure and holistic assessment of learners, in line with this year’s theme: “Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment.”
