16 Charged Over Murder of Arua DHO.
Police in the West Nile Region have charged 16 suspects in connection with the murder of Dr. Paul Drilaba, the District Health Officer (DHO) of Arua.
The charges were filed yesterday, December 5, 2024, following weeks of intensive investigation into the November 23rd killing, which occurred at Oyeku Village, Ajia Subcounty.
Speaking about the case, SP Asea Collins, the Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the suspects are being processed with the cooperation of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
“Our team is working diligently with the ODPP to ensure an effective prosecution. Evidence collection is ongoing to build a robust case against those implicated,” SP Asea said.
The police urged residents to remain calm and patient as the legal process takes its course. “We are committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for Dr. Drilaba’s family and the community,” SP Asea added.
Dr. Drilaba was a well-respected figure in the health sector, and his brutal murder sent shockwaves through the region. The motive behind the killing has not yet been publicly disclosed, but investigators are pursuing multiple leads as they piece together the circumstances of the crime.
Authorities have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in holding the perpetrators accountable. Meanwhile, community leaders have called for cooperation with law enforcement and vigilance to prevent such tragedies in the future.
