Kagame Appoints his son to Rwanda Development Board

In a Monday cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, it was agreed that his son Ivan Kagame joins the board of Rwanda Development Board.

Born in 1990, Ivan is Kagame’s first son. There is limited information about him online concerning this line of work but some publications have described him as a “private equity investor”.

Rwanda Development Board is responsible for coordinating, spurring and promoting national economic development.

The board will be headed by Itzhak Fisher as chairman with Evelyn Kamagaju as the vice chairman.

The other members on the board are Alice Nkulikiyinka, Diane Karusisi, Eric Kacou, Solange Uwituze, Liban Soleman Abdi and Faith Keza.

The cabinet also approved new high commissioners, ambassadors and country representatives of international organisations, according to press statement from Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente.

Chae Jin-Weon is the new ambassador of Korea to Rwanda, Jaspal Singh represents Singapore in the country while Jesus Agustin Manzanilla Puppo represents Venezuela.

Valentin Zellweger, who resides in Nairobi, will represent Switzerland in Rwanda and Mama Keita is the new director of Sub-Regional Office for East Africa of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

Virus lockdown

Meanwhile, the cabinet has extended the coronavirus lockdown for more 15 days, with public and private transport allowed to operate in localized areas.

Private and public businesses offering essential services are open.

Borders remain closed, except for goods and cargo, as well as returning Rwandan citizens and legal residents.

Schools, places of worship and bars remain closed.
